Meet your Tutor: Aileen Maher

Aileen has become a household name in the hairdressing industry, with over 25 year’s experience. Having worked amongst the elite gives her the confidence, drive and focus, which is the success of her business today.

Aileen has been teaching the art of Hairdressing since 2004 and her students have won many prestigious titles including IHF Trainee Hairdresser of the Year, and Finalist in the Irish Photographic Awards. Aileen says on her career in Hairdressing “I have travelled the world visiting Australia/New Zealand/Singapore and the States, with just a scissors in hand!”

What is involved in the Course

During the course you will have both theory and practical days.

The practical days will be working firstly on model heads, and then you will get the opportunity to perform your skills on each other. When you have mastered your skills, you will get to work on live models in a salon environment, all under the full supervision of your class tutor.

You will also have the option of working in a salon one day per week as work experience. This is optional, but strongly advised.

What are the entry requirements?

We are looking for PASSION, not points. You will attend an interview and tell us why you are passionate about hairdressing. We expect excellent attendance and punctuality throughout the course.

What can I do next?

This diploma is an alternative to the apprenticeship system of learning the art of hairdressing. Completion of this diploma will take you to a level of a Stylist on the salon floor, pending you successfully pass all examinations, both theory and practical.

After that, your career path within the hairdressing world is so diverse ….be it Hairdresser, Technician, Tutoring, Artistic Stylist, Session Stylist…. it’s a lifetime career

As hairdressers we are advising and changing people’s images on a daily basis so here at IBHT one of the first steps we take is working with our students self image and confidence.

To be confident with our clients, as haidressers we must firstly be confident in ourselves.
