Items you will need to provide

Linen: 1 Navy Pillow Case, 1 Navy Fitted Sheet, 3 Navy Hand Towels & 2 Navy Bath Sheets (if you can’t get navy, dark blue or black)
Uniform: Black Trousers, Black or Pink Shoes (flat with enclosed toes), Black or Pink cardigan
Stationery: Clipboard/Pens/pencils/highlighter markers
Sundries: optional additional products for home practice as required.

All students will be trained in the Dermalogica professional range of skin care products. As part of the Partnership Programme with Dermalogica, students also receive additional specialised product training with an appointed Dermalogica representative. During this course all students will be able to practice their skills at the IBHT student clinic days. All beauty students will have a chance of becoming our Dermalogica Student of the Year which will be announced at the cap and gown Graduation ceremony!

This exciting new Beauty Specialist course consists of the following Facials & Eye treatments, Make-up, Waxing, Manicure & Pedicure, Instruction on Make-up, Nail art, Fake tan, Sales & Reception skills, Consultation skills, Health & Safety and related Anatomy & Physiology!

Qualification Structure

Anatomy & Physiology

• Study of the body’s main systems as they relate to beauty specialist techniques.
• We must know how the body works in order to be able to work on the body.

Facial skin care

• Skin analysis
• Cleansing, toning & moisturising
• Face masks & exfoliating techniques
• Face & neck massage
• Cosmetic science & Dermalogica product knowledge

Eyelash and Brow Treatments

• Tweezing and shaping the eyebrows
• Tinting the eyebrows
• Tinting the eyelashes

Instruction & application of make-up

• consult, plan and prepare for make-up services
• the art of make-up application for day, evening and special occasion’s
• apply individual & strip false lashes
• instructing the client in make-up application techniques to suit them

Waxing Techniques

• Prepare for and provide warm & hot waxing treatments
• Eyebrow wax, Upper lip wax, Chin wax
• Full leg wax, Half leg wax ,Bikini line wax & Underarm wax
• Theory of other forms of hair removal; sugaring, depilation creams etc.

Manicure & Pedicure treatments

• Prepare for and provide manicure & pedicure treatments
• Specialised treatments, hot oil, paraffin wax, and French polish

Free- Nail Art

• Prepare for & provide nail art treatment
• Using; Coloured polishes , Rhinestones , Flatstones , Glitters , Transfers

Free- Skin Tanning Techniques

• Providing self-tanning treatments and aftercare advice to clients.
• The application, use and benefits of self-tanning treatments.

Free-Salon reception duties

• You will learn all about the important skills of welcoming and receiving people entering the salon
• Handling enquires, making appointments
• Dealing with clients’ payments

Free- Client care and communication in beauty-related industries

• Hear you will learn to develop your communication skills
• Deal with enquiries, retail, consultation, complaints and all forms of client care.

Free- Display stock to promote sales in a salon

• Preparing, maintaining and dismantling an area for displaying promotional materials in the salon

Free- Health and safety practice in the salon

• Is about being aware of the risks in the workplace
• Knowing how to identify them, and taking responsibility to deal with them
